When do we give photographer gratuities?

Searching other questions, I know that gratuities are not required for photographers, DJs, etc. unless their service was expceptional.

Does any one have recommendation on destination wedding photographers in the Cancun or riviera maya area? Do we send invitations to photographer and officiant?

I have read several of the posts and am still confused. The photographer and officiant are not invited to stay for the reception. Do I send them invitations? If so how do I make it clear that they are not invited to remain for the dinner after or will that be understood?
